Ideas on Fire: AKTU Turns into Innovation Lab for 24 Hours
In a vibrant celebration of innovation and technological creativity, the Grand Finale of the Navonmesh Idea Challenge 2025 Hackathon concluded at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), where 42 student teams worked tirelessly over a span of 24 hours to turn their ideas into working prototypes.
The campus turned into a buzzing hub of Artificial Intelligence-driven experimentation, as teams from affiliated institutions across Uttar Pradesh showcased their ability to solve real-world challenges using AI. The event, organised by the university’s Innovation Hub, aimed to encourage entrepreneurship and foster a culture of innovation among the youth.
The hackathon was inaugurated by AKTU Vice Chancellor Prof. JP Pandey, who underscored the vital role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping India’s future. “Artificial Intelligence knows no bounds. If India wants to become a developed nation, our youth must focus on innovation and securing patents,” he stated during his address. Prof. Pandey also announced that the university would facilitate free patent filing for the most promising ideas through the Innovation Hub.
The hackathon received over 280 applications from across the state. Following a rigorous evaluation process, 42 teams were shortlisted to participate in the finale. These selected teams worked around the clock over a timespan, developing prototypes and presenting them before a jury of experts. Six teams were ultimately declared winners based on innovation, execution, and potential impact.
Finance Officer Keshav Singh commended the participants and highlighted the university’s role in promoting innovation. “AKTU is offering numerous platforms for students to explore their creative potential. They must make the most of these opportunities,” he said.
Dean of Innovation Prof. B.N. Mishra remarked, “AKTU has paved a new path for innovation in the state. In a short time, we’ve seen an emerging culture of entrepreneurship, which will take Uttar Pradesh to new heights. Now is the time for our students to build world-class startups.”
TCS State Head Amitabh Tiwari also addressed the participants, stating that today’s youth had no dearth of resources. “What they need is clarity of vision and mentorship. The startups and innovations coming out of such events have a very bright future,” he said.
The finale saw enthusiastic participation from students and teachers alike. Associate Dean of Innovation Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma welcomed the guests, while Mahip Singh, Head of the Innovation Hub, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was anchored by Vandana Sharma.
The AKTU campus pulsed with energy, as students coded, designed, and engineered under pressure to bring their AI-powered solutions to life. The jury evaluated each prototype, and six winning teams were selected based on creativity, technical soundness, and feasibility.
