Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that cardiologists at the Lari Cardiology Department are giving a “new lease of life” to critically ill heart patients through advanced treatment and dedicated service. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating Cardicon 2026 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre of King George's Medical University on Friday.
The conference, organized by the Cardiological Society of India, brought together leading cardiologists and medical experts from across the country to discuss the latest research, emerging technologies, and evolving treatment protocols in cardiovascular medicine.
Highlighting the achievements of the Lari Cardiology Department at KGMU, the Deputy CM noted that the department is providing modern and advanced cardiac care not only to patients from Uttar Pradesh but also from across India and neighboring countries. “Doctors and paramedical staff are working tirelessly day and night to save lives. Every day, critically ill heart patients are being successfully treated and given a new life,” he said.
He added that the state government remains fully committed to strengthening healthcare services and supporting premier institutions like KGMU. With modern technology and highly skilled specialists, the university is touching new heights in cardiac care, he said.
Brajesh Pathak also emphasized that healthcare services in the state are improving rapidly. Hospitals are being established to serve populations of around 5,000 people, district hospitals have been upgraded, and new medical colleges are being opened in every district. “Along with providing treatment, we are also preparing future doctors. Robotic surgery is being expanded and artificial intelligence is being integrated to accelerate diagnosis and treatment,” he said.
Assuring full support to KGMU and its Lari Cardiology Department, the Deputy CM stated that the government is ready to extend all possible assistance to further enhance cardiac care services.
The conference provided a valuable platform for physicians to exchange clinical experiences and gain insights into innovative procedures and technologies in cardiology. Experts from across the country deliberated on cutting-edge interventions, preventive cardiology, and advancements in interventional techniques.
Among those present at the event were KGMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sonia Nityanand, Lari Cardiology Department Head Dr. Rishi Sethi, Dr. Akshay Pradhan, Dr. Gaurav Chaudhary, Dr. Sharad Chandra, Dr. Pravesh Vishwakarma, Dr. Dhiman Kahali, and several other senior cardiologists and faculty members.
Cardicon 2026 concluded with a renewed focus on collaboration, innovation, and excellence in cardiac sciences, reinforcing KGMU’s reputation as a leading center for heart care in northern India.
