Fruit Wine Revolution in Lucknow: Maeve by Ambrosia Launches Uttar Pradesh’s First V5 Retail Outlet

Lucknow has become the new hub for fruit-based winemaking, with wines now being produced from mango, jamun, amla, ber, mint, mulberry, and honey. In a landmark initiative supported by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Maeve by Ambrosia inaugurated the state’s first V5 retail outlet near Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar — marking a new chapter in the state’s wine industry.
The V5 retail license, introduced by the state government, allows wineries producing wine within Uttar Pradesh to sell their products directly to consumers. The goal is to promote and expand the market for locally made wines while encouraging self-reliance and rural enterprise.

Founder Madhavendra Deo Singh said, “V5 Retail is not just a sales outlet, but a step towards empowerment and self-sufficiency for Uttar Pradesh’s wine industry. It gives local producers direct access to consumers and builds a new identity for regional wines.”Maeve by Ambrosia earlier gained national acclaim for introducing India’s first mulberry-based natural wine, “Mew Mulberry Mort Mead Wine,” which won the Silver Award at Spiritz Magazine’s National Blind Tasting Competition held in Gurugram on October 29, 2025.

This recognition highlights the innovation and quality emerging from the state’s winemaking sector. The new V5 outlet will serve as both a retail and experiential center, offering visitors the opportunity to taste and learn about locally crafted wines and natural products.Aligned with Uttar Pradesh’s policies promoting agro-processing, rural enterprise, employment generation, and tourism, the initiative is expected to boost the state’s agricultural economy. By sourcing fruits such as mango, jamun, and amla directly from farmers, the project ensures better prices for growers, supports local employment, and fosters eco-friendly production methods using modern winemaking technology.

The Ambrosia winery is also planning training programs to equip local youth with skills in production, packaging, marketing, and administration, making the venture a model of sustainable rural development and innovation. With this initiative, Uttar Pradesh steps confidently into a new era of fruit-based winemaking, blending tradition, technology, and taste — and offering the world a refreshing sip of local pride.
