Yogi Government to pump up Medical Infra in U.P.
The Yogi Adityanath-led government is preparing to introduce a new health policy aimed at significantly strengthening healthcare services across Uttar Pradesh. The policy, designed to be effective for the next five years, seeks to attract private investment in the health sector to ensure advanced medical facilities are accessible not only in urban areas but also in rural and backward regions.
The policy will focus on bridging the gap between urban and rural healthcare, ensuring that patients in smaller towns and villages no longer need to travel long distances for quality treatment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently held a high-level meeting with senior officials from the Health Department, emphasizing the need to develop world-class medical infrastructure across the state.
Under the new policy, private players will be encouraged to establish super-specialty hospitals offering facilities such as neurosurgery, cardiology, oncology, and gynecology. These hospitals will also be linked to central and state government schemes like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, PM Jan Arogya Yojana, and CM Jan Arogya Yojana.
The policy will be implemented through a three-tier model—Model A, B, and C.
- Model A will cover 17 municipal corporations, including Noida and Greater Noida, where at least three 200-bed super-specialty hospitals will be promoted.
- Model B targets 57 district headquarters, with the establishment of 200-bed hospitals offering similar advanced services.
- Model C focuses on rural and underdeveloped regions in all 75 districts, where 100-bed hospitals will provide basic healthcare including general medicine, surgery, and maternity services.
To encourage investment, the government will offer a range of incentives such as 100% exemption on stamp duty for land purchases, priority electricity connections, and fast-track approvals (NOC). Land for hospital construction will be provided at concessional rates by government agencies or development authorities.
Additionally, priority will be given to local youth for employment in new hospitals, especially in nursing, paramedical, and medical roles. The state will also link medical and nursing college graduates to these institutions.
CM Yogi has instructed officials to finalize the policy and present it before the cabinet soon. Once approved, the process of land allotment for hospitals in at least 20 districts will begin within three months.
