Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre, Lucknow Celebrates 72nd Foundation Day with Enchanting Cultural Evening

Lucknow, August 5, 2026 — The Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, marked its 72nd Foundation Day with a lecture programme and a melodious cultural evening held at the Akademi premises.

The event mesmerized art lovers with captivating performances spanning Indian classical, semi-classical, and folk music traditions.

Highlights of the Evening

 Vibha Singh, Vice President of Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi and renowned classical and semi-classical vocalist, was the centerpiece of the programme. She enthralled the audience with renditions in Raag Megh Malhar, Sohni, and Jog, including bandish, tarana, thumri, kajri, chaiti, and dadra. Her performance reflected the richness of Indian musical tradition, emotional depth, and the sweet essence of folk culture.

In the next segment, Atharva Pratap Singh, a skilled and talented flutist, delivered a spellbinding performance. He presented Bada Khayal and Chhota Khayal with Jod-Jhala and intricate laya-kari in Raag Shuddha Sarang on the flute. Following this, he performed several traditional tunes, introducing the audience to the diversity and sweetness of Indian music. His flute recital received widespread appreciation from those present.

The performances beautifully showcased the harmonious blend of India’s classical heritage and folk sensibilities. The programme conveyed an important message on the preservation and promotion of art and culture, and on carrying forward the rich legacy of Indian music to the younger generation.
