Grand Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial to be built at Kothi Meena Bazar in Agra, Maharashtra Government to also collaborate

Lucknow / Agra : Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister and MLA from Agra South, Yogendra Upadhyay paid a courtesy visit to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his Mumbai residence and requested the Maharashtra government's participation in the construction of a divine and grand memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the historic Kothi Meena Bazar in Agra. Chief Minister Fadnavis assured full cooperation with the Uttar Pradesh government in this historic project.

Yogendra Upadhyay informed Chief Minister Fadnavis that historical research conducted under his leadership by historian Prof. Sugam Anand and Dr. Ami Adhar Nidar (late) revealed that the place where Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb deceitfully imprisoned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his son in the Kothi of Ram Singh, son of Mirza Raja Jai Singh of Jaipur, is known today as Kothi Meena Bazar. From this very spot, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, demonstrating his unparalleled courage, intelligence, and strategic skill, defied the Mughal guards and made his historic escape.

He stated that continuous efforts are being made to establish a memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at this historic site. The process of acquiring the Kothi by the Yogi government is in its final stages, and as soon as it is completed, the construction of the memorial will commence.

Yogendra Upadhyay said that the Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra governments should jointly develop such a grand memorial that symbolizes national unity, Indian valor, and pride. He said that every tourist visiting Agra should visit this memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj along with the Taj Mahal. This memorial will not only introduce the new generation to India's glorious history but also convey an inspiring message of Indian bravery and self-respect to the world.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised this initiative and assured that the Maharashtra government would work together with the Uttar Pradesh government in the construction of this historic memorial.

Maharashtra leader Sunil Kumar Singh was also present during the meeting. It is noteworthy that a day earlier, Yogendra Upadhyay had also held detailed discussions on this subject with Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar.
