Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a highly anticipated visit to Lucknow, marking his first public appearance in the city after India’s successful military campaign, Operation Sindoor, conducted on May 7. The operation, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, had galvanized national sentiment, and Singh’s arrival in Lucknow was met with jubilant crowds, BJP supporters, and symbolic events such as a Tiranga Yatra.

The highlight of the visit was the Silver Jubilee celebration of Dr. KNS Memorial Hospital, where Singh drew an evocative parallel between soldiers and surgeons. He praised the armed forces for their surgical precision in dismantling terror hubs while avoiding civilian harm, framing the operation as a moral and strategic victory. He contrasted India’s targeted action with Pakistan’s alleged strikes on civilian and religious locations, reiterating the ethical superiority and professional restraint of Indian forces.

Singh also paid homage to the hospital’s founder, Dr. KN Singh, describing doctors as “another form of God.” His remarks bridged the theme of service—celebrating both medical professionals and the military as pillars of national strength.

Though the visit focused on Operation Sindoor and the hospital’s milestone, it subtly tied into recent developments such as Singh’s May 11 virtual inauguration of the Rs 300 crore BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow. While not spotlighted on this day, the facility exemplifies Lucknow’s rising strategic relevance as a key node in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, manufacturing 80–100 BrahMos missiles annually.

The visit also echoed Singh’s earlier remarks at Bhuj Air Base, where he questioned the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal and called for global scrutiny. These statements, combined with India’s military assertiveness and economic diplomacy, reinforced Singh’s message of India as a nation of strength and stability.

In essence, Singh’s first visit to Lucknow after Operation Sindoor was not just ceremonial—it was a convergence of military triumph, civic pride, and India’s defence ambitions, reaffirming Lucknow’s emerging role in the nation’s strategic future.
