Lucknow, October 23: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that considering the increasing population, industrial expansion, and urbanization in the state, it is necessary to make the Fire Service department more powerful, modern, and sensitive to public safety. He said that Fire Service should not be limited to firefighting only, but should be developed as an integrated form of disaster management, rescue operation, and emergency services.

The Chief Minister was reviewing the Fire Service department. He emphasized the need for departmental cadre review and directed to form specialized units in each region, which can deal with chemical, biological, radiological accidents, and super high-rise buildings.

The Chief Minister also directed to equip Fire Service with modern equipment and trained manpower. The meeting discussed the creation of new posts in the department. The Chief Minister said that to increase administrative capacity and financial transparency, an account cadre should be established in each district. Additionally, new posts should be created in the State Fire Training College to improve training and research quality.

Following the Chief Minister's directions, the way has been paved for creating 98 gazetted and around 922 non-gazetted new posts in the department. This will strengthen the Fire Service's capacity and public service ability at district, regional, and headquarters levels.

The Chief Minister said that Fire and emergency services should be made quickly available in each district. Considering the increasing accidents on Expressways, he directed to set up a small fire post with fire tender every 100 km, so that relief and rescue operations can be started within the golden hour in case of an accident.

The meeting was informed that as new operational units, adequate manpower has already been deployed at Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Kanpur Nagar, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, and Sonbhadra airports.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to make the Fire Service department's structure capable of giving quick, efficient, and responsible response in every situation. He said that the department's reorganization process should be completed in a time-bound manner, so that its benefits can reach the public quickly.
