Lucknow University Holds Full-Dress Rehearsal for 69th Convocation

Lucknow:  Lucknow University conducted a full-dress rehearsal at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre to finalize arrangements for its 69th Convocation, scheduled for July 31, 2026. The rehearsal was aimed at testing all protocols and arrangements for the ceremony.

The 69th Convocation will be held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre in Lucknow. The ceremony will be presided over by Uttar Pradesh Governor and Lucknow University Chancellor Anandiben Patel. Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Member of NITI Aayog and former Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, will attend as Chief Guest. Uttar Pradesh Minister for Higher Education Yogendra Upadhyay and Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari will join as Guests of Honour.

The rehearsal began with the traditional academic procession. This was followed by a detailed run-through of the entire program, including the arrival and seating of dignitaries, distribution of medals and degrees, stage proceedings, and the group photograph. To mirror the actual event, university faculty members enacted the roles of the distinguished guests.

During the rehearsal, Prof. Anchal Srivastava of the Department of Physics, who is also Director, Sanskritiki, at Lucknow University, played the role of Governor and Chancellor  Anandiben Patel. Prof. Anupama Rastogi portrayed Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari. Prof. Vivek Sahay enacted the role of Chief Guest Prof. Abhay Karandikar, while Prof. Arvind Mohan took on the role of Higher Education Minister  Yogendra Upadhyay.

University Registrar Dr. Bhavna Mishra and Controller of Examinations Vidyanand Tripathi were also present during the rehearsal. Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini personally inspected all arrangements and reviewed the preparations to ensure a smooth and dignified conduct of the convocation.

At the 69th Convocation on July 31, the university will confer degrees on 1,25,239 students. The tally includes 93,536 undergraduate students, 31,006 postgraduate students, 419 diploma recipients, 30 online education students, and 248 research scholars who will be awarded Ph.D. degrees. Among the degree recipients, 54.38% are female students and 45.62% are male students.

A total of 204 medals will be awarded during the ceremony to 111 students — 80 female and 31 male students. Several students will receive more than one medal in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.
