Lucknow, July 12: In line with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Vriksharopan Mahayagya-2026 has taken the form of a people's movement. Under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, a record more than 35.27 crore saplings were planted across the state on Sunday. The plantation drive was carried out across all divisions and districts of the state with the coordinated participation of all departments, social organisations and educational institutions. As part of this, the nodal Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department planted the highest number of saplings, totalling 15,42,19,413. 

This was followed by the Rural Development Department, which achieved plantation of more than 10.56 crore saplings. Sonbhadra district secured the first position in the state with the highest plantation of 1.68 crore saplings, while Lalitpur, Jhansi, Lakhimpur Kheri and Jalaun ranked second, third, fourth and fifth respectively. Among timber species, more than 4.67 crore Sheesham saplings were planted, the highest among all species. 

Among fruit-bearing trees, Jamun recorded the highest plantation. In keeping with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Vriksharopan Mahayagya-2026 is turning the dream of a Green UP into reality.
