Lucknow, July 12: Under the Vraksharopan Mahayagya-2026 organized as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, launched at the call of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation and Water Resources Department has achieved a significant milestone in environmental conservation. Surpassing its target of planting 1.5 million saplings, the department planted 1519865 saplings. 

The campaign marks an important step towards increasing the state's green cover, strengthening water conservation, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.

Uttar Pradesh Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Swatantra Dev Singh participated in the plantation drive in Jalaun. He said, "The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign is not merely about planting trees but is a commitment to building a greener, more prosperous, and safer future for the coming generations."

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh planted saplings in Ballia under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. Meanwhile, Transport Commissioner Ashutosh Niranjan led the plantation drive in Bulandshahr. He informed that the Transport Department planted 120000 saplings, while the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) planted 180000 saplings. He added, "Through this plantation drive, the department is also playing a significant role in groundwater conservation, promoting biodiversity, and creating a cleaner environment."
