Uttar Pradesh CM Reviews UPIEDA's Progress, Emphasizes Expressways as Economic Backbone
Lucknow - Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the progress of the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Expressway Development Authority (UPIEDA) at a high-level meeting held at his official residence.
The CM emphasized that expressways are not just a network of roads, but the backbone of Uttar Pradesh's economy and industrial future. He directed that the construction of the Ganga Expressway be completed by December, ensuring seamless connectivity between the state's western and eastern regions.
The meeting discussed the proposed Meerut-Haridwar Link Expressway, Noida-Jewar Link Expressway, Chitrakoot-Rewa Link Expressway, and the Vindhya Expressway and Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway. The CM instructed that these projects be integrated with the National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) proposed expressway and highway network.
The CM also directed the establishment of Skill Development Centers in all six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot). These centers will provide technical training to local youth, connecting them with the defence industry.
The meeting was informed that investments worth approximately Rs 30,819 crore have been received for the Defence Industrial Corridor, with 5,039 acres of land acquired and various companies having commenced work.
The CM emphasized that land allocation should be transparently monitored, and facilities should only be provided to investors demonstrating genuine progress.
