Lucknow Municipal Corporation Ensures Smooth Chhath Puja Celebrations

Lucknow: In preparation for the upcoming Chhath Puja festival, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of the city's major ghats. The inspection aimed to review the arrangements and ensure a smooth and safe celebration for devotees.

Kumar visited Lakshman Mela Ghat, Jhulelal Vatika Ghat, Sanzhia Ghat, and Kuria Ghat, accompanied by senior officials and engineers. He reviewed the arrangements for cleanliness, lighting, waste management, and beautification of the ghats.

The Municipal Commissioner directed officials to complete the barricading, pruning of trees, and grass cutting on time to avoid any inconvenience to devotees. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and security of the ghats during the festival.

Kumar instructed officials to install nets on drains flowing into the Gomti River to prevent waste from entering the river and to continuously remove floating debris using boats and laborers. He also directed officials to ensure adequate lighting, install clean dustbins, and maintain proper drinking water and toilet facilities.

The Municipal Commissioner appealed to citizens to refrain from immersing idols or other worship materials in the Gomti River, emphasizing the need to keep the river clean and protect the environment.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has deployed additional sanitation workers, arranged special vehicles for waste collection, and set up emergency response teams at the ghats. The corporation is also focusing on the disposal and recycling of CND waste.

Kumar stated that the corporation's goal is to ensure a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly Chhath Puja celebration. He directed officials to work with vigilance and coordination to provide a hassle-free experience for devotees.

"The Gomti River is our identity, and its cleanliness is our collective responsibility," Kumar said.
