Kanpur Book Fair 2025: A Grand Celebration of Literature, Unity, and the Legacy of Dr. Mahalka Ejaz Siddiqui!

Kanpur: The 'Kanpur Book Fair 2025' at Government Inter College, Chunniganj, reached a high point on its sixth day, which was steeped in literary prestige, cultural unity, and heartfelt celebrations.

 Homage to a Pillar of Urdu Literature

The afternoon's highlight was the magnificent felicitation and poetry session organized by the Sahityakar Sahayog Sangathan (Literary Support Organization) in honour of the eminent educationist, Dr. Mahalka Ejaz Siddiqui.

The event commenced with the ceremonial Deep Prajjwalan (lighting of the lamp). Dr. Archana Chauhan performed the Vani Vandana (invocation to the Goddess Saraswati), and the first phase was expertly anchored by Shri Shravan Shukla.

• A Storied Career: Introducing the celebrated scholar, Dr. Mahe Tilat Siddiqui highlighted Dr. Mahalka Ejaz Siddiqui's monumental achievements. She revealed that Dr. Mahalka is the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in Urdu from Kanpur University and has since guided nearly thirteen students to complete their own doctorates. A prolific writer, she has authored seventeen books—many of which are currently part of the official Urdu curriculum—and has served as a member of the Urdu Academy.

• Tributes: Dr. Suresh Awasthi praised Dr. Mahalka Ejaz Siddiqui as the embodiment of 'Asli Hindustan' (The True India). Shri Shravan Shukla recalled her dedication and hard work, noting how her legacy continues through her daughter, Dr. Mahe Tilat Siddiqui, who has created literature in both Hindi and Urdu.

• Felicitation: Dr. Usha conferred the honours, presenting Dr. Mahalka Ejaz Siddiqui with a shawl, garland, and a special citation letter.
