*Ayodhya, October 19, 2025:*
Ayodhya illuminated the world once again as Deepotsav 2025 scripted yet another golden chapter in history. The divine banks of the Saryu glowed with 26,17,215 oil lamps, officially earning Uttar Pradesh two new Guinness World Records — for the Largest Display of Oil Lamps and for the Most People Performing Diya Rotations simultaneously.
The Guinness World Records adjudicator, Richard Stenning, announced the recognition amid thunderous applause, saying, “Today we have witnessed an amazing display — 26,17,215 oil lamps. It is officially a Guinness World Record. Every year this is getting more and more incredible. It is truly spectacular and an honour to be here.”
The certificates were formally handed over to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh and Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture) Amrit Abhijat in the presence of thousands of devotees, volunteers, and saints. The atmosphere was charged with devotion as 2,128 Vedic scholars, and vedacharyas performed the grand Saryu Aarti together — marking the eighth consecutive Guinness World Record achieved by Uttar Pradesh during Deepotsav celebrations.
A Record-Breaking Tradition of Faith and Light
The scale of Deepotsav has expanded every year since its inception under CM Yogi’s leadership:
2017: 1.71 lakh
2018: 3.01 lakh
2019: 4.04 lakh
2020: 6.06 lakh
2021: 9.41 lakh
2022: 15.76 lakh
2023: 22.23 lakh
2024: 25.12 lakh
2025: 26,17,215 diyas — a new world record
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deepotsav has transcended from being a festival of light to a festival of pride and identity. The entire world today sees Ayodhya as the living embodiment of Ram Rajya — where faith, discipline, and development shine together. Every diya lit here reflects the spirit of a Viksit Uttar Pradesh and a Viksit Bharat.”
The record-setting celebration once again reaffirmed Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to blending devotion with meticulous organization. Volunteers, saints, and citizens together turned the banks of the Saryu into a luminous ocean of faith, symbolizing the timeless values of the Ramayana brought alive in modern India.
