Anti-Drug Awareness Cycle Rally Flagged Off from Jan Bhawan in Lucknow Under Governor Anandiben Patel’s Inspiration

Lucknow: Inspired by Uttar Pradesh Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel, an Anti-Drug Awareness Cycle Rally was organized today from Jan Bhawan, Uttar Pradesh, to spread public awareness about de-addiction.

The rally was flagged off by Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Special Officer to the Governor (Additional Chief Secretary level). Officials, employees, and security personnel of Jan Bhawan participated enthusiastically. Students of Jan Bhawan Adarsh Secondary School welcomed the participants and saw the rally off from Jan Bhawan.

Through the rally, citizens were made aware of the harmful effects of substance abuse and urged to adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Participants raised slogans promoting de-addiction and appealed to the public to stay away from drugs and support the creation of a drug-free society.

Two Teams, Two Routes
The participants were divided into two teams.

Team-1 started from Gate No. 2 of Jan Bhawan. The route covered Bandaribaag Crossing, Golf Crossing, left onto Park Road, Hazratganj Crossing, right towards Shriram Tower, Sapru Marg, Alka Tiraha, Hazratganj Crossing, and Royal Hotel, before entering Jan Bhawan through Gate No. 8 and proceeding via Yojana Bhawan to the Veterinary Hospital.

At the program venue in the Veterinary Hospital, a special awareness program was presented through magic to highlight the ill effects of drugs. The performance conveyed the message in an engaging and effective manner, encouraging people, especially youth, to stay away from substance abuse. After the program, Team-1 returned to Jan Bhawan Gate No. 8 via cycle rally, where it concluded.

Team-2 was led by Legal Advisor Sunil Verma and Assistant Puneet Dwivedi along with other officers. It also began from Gate No. 2 of Jan Bhawan and passed through Golf Crossing, 1090 Crossing to Ekta Van, and then to a program site in a nearby slum area. The team returned via Golf Crossing, Bandaribaag Crossing, Lal Batti Crossing, and Annexe Tiraha, entering Jan Bhawan through Gate No. 8.

A special de-addiction awareness program was also held in the slum near Ekta Van, where residents were urged to stay away from drugs and to help make their families and communities drug-free.

Magic of the Bell” Spreads the Message
During the event, the “Ghanti Ka Jadoo” (Magic of the Bell) performance was used to spread awareness about the ill effects of drugs. The message delivered through magic particularly inspired children and young people to avoid drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Addressing the gathering, Puneet Dwivedi said that in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call, large-scale public awareness programs on de-addiction are being run across the country. He added that Governor Anandiben Patel and the Chief Minister expect all sections of society to make collective efforts to make Uttar Pradesh drug-free.

“Addiction enters the home like a friend, but slowly hollows out the entire family. We must identify this enemy in the guise of a friend and stop it from entering our homes,” he said.

Dwivedi stressed that the fight against addiction must begin at home. He specifically appealed to children to educate their parents and family members about the harms of drugs and play their role in making the family drug-free.

He also said that people caught in addiction should not be viewed only as offenders but as victims who deserve a chance at reform and rehabilitation. He urged citizens to spend money on children’s education, family needs, and positive activities instead of on drugs and intoxicants.

Local Councilor Nagesh Singh Chauhan expressed gratitude to Governor Anandiben Patel and appealed to citizens to stop consuming alcohol and other narcotics. “Every citizen must take responsibility to free families and society from drugs,” he said.

Background
It may be recalled that on August 2, 2026, the Prime Minister launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva, Viksit Bharat’ campaign. Under the campaign, crores of youth took an oath for de-addiction at nearly 28,000 locations across the country. Various programs are being organized nationwide to raise awareness about the ill effects of drugs and motivate youth to stay away from them.

Under the Governor’s inspiration, Jan Bhawan continues to organize regular programs to promote de-addiction awareness, including Prabhat Pheris by school children, intensive checking drives, door-to-door campaigns, seminars, de-addiction pledges, and other awareness activities.

The rally conveyed that drug abuse impacts an individual’s health, family, social life, and economic condition. Only a drug-free youth can contribute with full potential to building a healthy, strong, and developed India.

The series of de-addiction awareness programs at Jan Bhawan will continue, using various mediums to educate the public about the harms of drugs and to inspire the creation of a healthy, drug-free, and empowered society.
