Lucknow: The Dial 112 Auditorium in Gomti Nagar Extension resonated with soulful melodies as music connoisseurs gathered to witness the 67th edition of the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan 2025. Organised under the aegis of Prasar Bharati and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, the event brought together eminent musical talents and a distinguished audience, including senior officials from the police department.
The evening commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, setting a serene and auspicious tone. Renowned vocalist Pt. Dharmnath Mishra then opened the musical presentations with a spellbinding recital of semi-classical renditions. His thumri in Raag Mishra Khamaj, “Khade Raho Shyam Gagariya Mein Ghar Dhari Aao”, and his evocative bandish in Raag Mishra Kaushik Dhwani, “Shyam Tohhe Nazariya Lag Jaayegi”, drew thunderous applause, leaving the audience deeply moved.
Music lovers from across the city filled the auditorium to capacity, eagerly awaiting each performance. The atmosphere soared further when acclaimed ghazal and bhajan singer Dr. Menka Mishra took the stage. Her mellifluous voice breathed life into Tulsidas’ devotional composition “Jo Mohi Ram Lagte Meethe”, followed by Meera Bai’s soulful bhajan “Dekho Saiyan Hari Man Kaath Kiyo”. The audience erupted in appreciation, especially during her spirited rendition of “Baar Baar Khanke Kangna”, which had listeners swaying with delight.
Speaking on the occasion, R.B. Singh, Deputy Director General of Akashvani Lucknow, highlighted the rich legacy of the Sangeet Sammelan, which began in 1954. He noted that this year, the grand musical series is being organised across 24 cities between November 2 and 29, featuring prominent artists of Hindustani, Carnatic, Sugam and folk music traditions.
Ajit Chaturvedi, Station Director, informed that the entire conference will be broadcast simultaneously from all Akashvani stations between 10 PM and 11 PM from December 26, 2025, to January 23, 2026. The performances will also be available on the NewsOnAir mobile app, DD Bharati, Prasar Bharati’s OTT platform “Waves”, and other digital channels, ensuring nationwide accessibility.
At the beginning of the event, Ajit Chaturvedi welcomed the esteemed guests, while R.B. Singh delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees. The musical coordination was overseen by Assistant Director Chandra Prakash.
The occasion saw the presence of key officials from Akashvani Lucknow, including Assistant Director (Programme) Sumona S. Pandey, Vinay Kumar, and several staff members, all contributing to the success of this memorable and culturally enriching evening.
