Its Game On time for Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their opening match of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The clash will be held at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on March 24.

Under the leadership of their newly-appointed captain Rishabh Pant, LSG will be competing in Group 2 alongside SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gujarat Titans (GT), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been grouped in Group 1.

The TATA IPL 2025 will follow the same format as the previous season, featuring 10 teams battling for the coveted title. According to the tournament structure, each team will play all other teams within their group and one team from the opposite group twice. The remaining four teams from the opposite group will be faced only once.

LSG will play SRH, GT, MI, and DC twice, while they will also face PBKS from the other group on two occasions. Additionally, all seven of LSG’s home matches will be hosted at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Lucknow Super Giants made history by securing Rishabh Pant for a record-breaking Rs 27 crore. Team owner Dr. Sanjiv Goenka appointed him as the captain recently. LSG has further strengthened its squad with the inclusion of Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, South African stars Aiden Markram and David Miller, alongside an impressive Indian lineup featuring Akash Deep and Avesh Khan. The team has also retained key players Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, and Mayank Yadav, ensuring a formidable squad for the season.

World-Class Training Under Zaheer Khan & Justin Langer

Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan is mentoring LSG, bringing a wealth of experience and strategic insights to the squad. During a training camp at Ekana Stadium from February 4 to 7, Zaheer closely analyzed player performances and provided crucial technical inputs. Head coach Justin Langer, along with assistant coaches Vijay Dahiya and Lance Klusener, has also played a key role in refining the batting and bowling techniques of the players.
